Morgan Hill Times endorses Jerry McNerney
Dublin, Calif – On September 22, McNerney for Congress announced that the Morgan Hill Times endorsed Congressman McNerney’s re-election.
The paper listed several reasons for the endorsement, including Congressman McNerney's bipartisan commitment to achieve real results on lowering gas prices and addressing our nation’s long-term energy needs. The Times’ also noted the Congressman’s efforts to address issues important to Morgan Hill as well as his accessibility to his constituents across the district.
The text of the endorsement is below:
"Since being elected to the 11th California Congressional District in the fall of 2006, Jerry McNerney has demonstrated an ability to work with fellow Congress people, even Republicans, to create a sound energy policy to help our country increase oil production and remain environmentally sound.
"The former wind energy engineer hasn't disappointed voters. He went to Washington to do what he said he was going to do: help solve the nation's energy problems. He's helped Congress pass several bills that are doing just that. He needs to continue to explore ways for Congress to become less partisan and find ways to lower gas prices, and address our long-term energy needs. We think he's the man to do it.
"He's also helped Morgan Hill make progress on securing funds for the Llagas Creek Flood Protection Project working with Santa Clara Valley Water District officials and U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. The project will provide flood protection to 1,100 homes, 500 business and more than 1,300 acres of agricultural land in South County. Stalled for 54 years and only 60 percent complete, McNerney is moving it forward.
"We're also grateful that McNerney hasn't forgotten about Morgan Hill. His Congress at your Corner events and telephone town hall meetings are valuable tools to meet with constituents and hear their concerns. Also this past May, he began pushing for a federal drinking water safety standard for perchlorate. Vote for McNerney on Nov. 4."
