Thank You

I started my journey to Congress five years ago this past February, after a call from my son, Michael.  Before that conversation, I wasn't planning on running for office.  I was trying to start a new business to support my family and worrying about sending my kids to college and paying the bills.  I was frustrated, like you, by the destructive policies of the previous administration, and decided I had to stand up and do something about it.
 
Now, I'm honored to bring the hands-on experience I have in renewable energy to Washington during this period of immense change.  Recently, I helped author groundbreaking climate change legislation to update the way we create and use energy and to reduce the amount of carbon emissions we put in the atmosphere. 
 
There are great challenges ahead.  I'm working hard to get the economy back on track, laying the groundwork for long-term and sustainable economic growth and reforming our country's health care system.  While there's much to do, I'm optimistic about the  opportunities for positive change. 
 
What started five years ago with a phone call from my son has become an incredible journey. You have made this possible with your generosity, both with contributions and volunteer time.  I know I would not be here without your continued support and enthusiasm.  I will always work as hard as I can to keep your confidence.
 
However, there is still a lot of opposition to the forward-thinking reforms we are taking on.  The struggle continues, and it is now clear that I will have another challenge from the far right.  We need to continue our diligence and preparation for the next campaign and I deeply appreciate your ongoing support.  It takes all of us to create change and your help has been invaluable.
